La Gresca Food&drinks Salou

El servicio y las hamburguesas estaban impresionantes Came across this place on Tripadvisor and based on the reviews there I figured it would be worth the trek (it was across both town and a railroad from where we were staying) and boy was I right. Right from the get go the service was impeccable, arriving as a party of four (a toddler, a 6 yr old as well as me and my wife) with no reservations I wasn't sure if we would get seated at all, but we managed to snag one of two non reserved tables, had we arrived just a few minutes later we likely wouldn't have been as lucky though. While enjoying our meal I noticed at least two other arriving parties having to leave again as there were no free tables. Anyway, we got seated and handed menus. In Spanish. We neither speak not read much [any] Spanish but the owner (one of two owners?) gave us the highlights including the children's menu. After guessing our way thru the different options on the menu (as well as getting some help from a nearby diner who spoke both English and Spanish _and_ the owner) we placed our order and waited. Drinks arrived almost immediately and the food wasn't too far behind. I can definitely see why this place has almost all five star reviews. The burgers (we had the Americano and another with blue cheese which I cannot remember the name of) were some of the best I've ever had, the accompanying chips were good and the presentation was quite nice. The portion sizes seemed a little small for my liking, but I didn't find myself having a midnight snack, so there's that... The children's burgers, while tasty (a cheeseburger and a chicken burger) weren't as nicely presented and our 6 yr old commented "what is this, a miniaturized cheeseburger or something". The kids did mention they were hungry later in the evening, but they've been doing that on and off the past few weeks anyway so... Prices weren't bad, even with a tip we paid €45 for two mains, two children's menus (burger, drinks, ice cream) and some beers. The place was jam packed by the time we were leaving so reservations are probably a good idea unless you're close enough to walk by on a whim. Seemingly everyone else were locals, I'm sure this may change later on in the tourist season however.
